By Allison Moran, quoting Gerald Anthony Moran

According to Uncle Gerry, his Uncle Alec and Aunt Annie (Moran) lived beside Thomas Edwin Moran’s family for 10 years, when they lived on Armstrong Street in Ottawa. Uncle Gerry’s brother Dermott had an old bicycle with gears and he said that thing could steam along at 40 mph. The only thing was it had weak pedal arms on it and every so often one would fall off. Uncle Alec worked in the Round House (CNR repair depot) and every time a pedal arm fell off, Dermott went down to see Uncle Alec and asked him if he would weld it back together. Dermott kept Uncle Alec busy welding pedal arms.
